Position Status: Full-time

 

ABOUT THE POSITION/DEPARTMENT:
Land Use: This position works primarily in land use planning, reviewing environmental studies, and development proposals. In addition, this position coordinates responses with other development departments/agencies to assure compliance with state and local laws and regulations, community plans and the County’s general plan.

Hazardous Waste: This position oversees hazardous waste remediation sites, reviews technical reports such as work plans, and coordinates with the Central Valley and Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Boards. The position also is a resource for the County and the public in land development issues, particularly concerning contaminated sites.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Two years of responsible journey level experience either as a California Certified, Registered Environmental Health Specialist; Registered Sanitarian, Civil Engineer, Soils Scientist or as an Engineering Geologist performing extensive land development and on-site sewage disposal work.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, environmental health science, geology, hydrology or a related field.
License or Certificate:
· Option 1: Possession of an appropriate license or registration in engineering, geology, civil engineering or environmental health;
· Option 2: Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as an Environmental Health Specialist issued by the California State Department of Health Services; or possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California; or possession of a Certificate as a Professional Soils Scientist issued by the Professional Soils Scientist Association of California; or possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Certified Engineering Geologist issued by the State of California.
