ABOUT THE POSITION/DEPARTMENT:
There are two full-time Health Services Consultant 3 positions currently open within the Division of Environmental Health, Office of Shellfish and Water Protection. These positions will provide technical assistance, consultation, and training to local health jurisdictions as they administer their local on-site sewage programs. DOH works with federal, state and local partners to help people in Washington stay healthier and safer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in public health, environmental health, civil or environmental engineering, or a closely allied field. Must have five years of professional experience in public environmental health and/or environmental quality protection. A Master’s Degree in public health, environmental health, civil or environmental engineering, or a closely allied field may substitute for one year of professional experience in public environmental health and/or environmental quality protection. A doctoral degree in public health, environmental health, civil or environmental engineering, or a closely allied field may substitute for two years of professional experience in public environmental health and/or environmental quality protection. Must have three years of experience working with on-site sewage or wastewater systems, including knowledge and experience with the design, construction, and operation of on-site sewage water systems, soils, wastewater treatment, and ground/surface water protection issues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
These positions are members of the team that provides direct support services to local health jurisdictions in their administration of local on-site system programs and the day-to-day implementation of local and state regulations, as well as legislative requirements, pertaining to on-site sewage systems.
