ABOUT THE POSITION/DEPARTMENT:
The Environmental Specialist will protect public health and the environment by ensuring compliance with federal, state and local health and environmental regulations by conducting various health/environmental inspections, including but not limited to restaurant and daycare inspections, overseeing various kinds of environmental remediation projects, conducting public education activities, responding to citizen complaints, conducting disease prevention activities, and conducting environmental investigations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Health Science, Science Education or a closely related field and at least two years experience working in an environmental health related position.
A valid Texas Class C Driver's License and a Professional Registered Sanitarian License is required.
Requires ability to obtain the following certifications within 12 months of hire date:

Hazardous Materials Management Certification

Pest Control Applicator's License or mosquito seasonal training hours

Certified Pool Operator's Certification
Requires ability to obtain a DR in OSSF within 18 months of hire date.
