ABOUT THE POSITION
Due to recent activity within the Environmental Health Department, Dallas County, Iowa, is looking for an Environmental Health Specialist.  This position requires an experienced professional to perform environmental health and sanitarian duties related to aquatic health, respiratory health, onsite wastewater treatment systems, and investigation of general environmental complaints. These professionals will work to reduce risks of injury and disease by means of inspection, investigation, education, and enforcement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must have the ability to interpret complex federal, state and local environmental health policies, regulations, and laws; the ability to deal with the public and resolve conflict in a regulatory setting; ability to prepare thorough documentation and reports of regulatory activities; demonstrated skill as an educator/trainer teaching environmental health principles.

B.S. in Environmental Health, Biology or related sciences is required.  Desirable experience would include successful coordination with federal and state agencies, managing departmental activities/priorities, and coordinating projects among interdisciplinary teams. Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of environmental health experience.  Certification as a NEHA Registered Environmental Specialist/Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) is desired and will be required within the first 12 months of employment.
