The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Environmental Health is seeking an energetic, independent, and proactive environmental health professional with experience in retail food and/or seafood programs to serve as the Environmental Health Officer III. As the sole Environmental Health Officer in this office, the incumbent in this position is responsible for implementing a comprehensive food safety and sanitation program relative to food establishments and public facilities located in City of Valdez and 14 other communities in the area. This position also inspects seafood processors during various fishery openings throughout Alaska. This position's duties require the application of a broad base of environmental health knowledge.

The State of Alaska is also recruiting for an Environmental Health Officer III in the Anchorage, AK Office and additional positions are pending.



 A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an environmental, physical, biological, food technology, or natural science;

One year of journey professional level experience inspecting, investigating, and permitting retail food establishments, food processing activities, and public facilities. This experience is met by service as an Environmental Health Officer II with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent.

Four years of any combination of experience in applying public health and environmental health standards or quality control within a food processing industry or in support of a regulatory agency and post-secondary education from an accredited college (3 semester or 4 quarter hours equal one month) will substitute for the required degree.
