On June 8, 2017, NEHA and the Association of Food and Drug Officials hosted a congressional briefing on food safety. The briefing was moderated by Dr. David Dyjack, NEHA's Executive Director. The event highlighted to critical congressional staff the federal food safety perspective from CDC's Dr. Laura Brown, Acting Team Leader, Food Safety, National Center for Environmental Health; the state food safety perspective from Steven Mandernach, Bureau Chief, Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals, Food and Consumer Safety Bureau; and the local food safety perspective from Bob Custard, current NEHA Past-President. The briefing also included an in-depth discussion on food safety.
