Workforce
Development Program
NEHA, through a funding agreement with the
Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), is
continuing to work with the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention/National Center for Environmental Health (CDC/NCEH) to support
efforts already underway to build capacity and infrastructure of the
overall public health system, and more specifically to support the goals
outlined by the CDC’s National
Strategy to Revitalize Environmental Public Health Services.
To insure increased coordination of
environmental health workforce and leadership development programs and
activities, NEHA has established and convened the Environmental Health
Workforce Development Consortium. Key national organizations and federal
agencies make up the Consortium and meet monthly via teleconference.
NEHA’s current Workforce Development Program
objectives include:
- Regularly convening the Environmental
Health Workforce Development Consortium.
- Identifying and sharing environmental
health professional recruitment and retention models and practices
within local and state agencies.
- Providing web-based workforce
development resources.
If you would like more information about this
program or have comments or questions, please contact Tom
Dickey, Project Coordinator or 701.277.4833.
