Professional (dis) Association

David Dyjack, DrPH, CIH

This month's column focuses on the fragmented state of the environmental health profession. Examples given in the column include the numerous agencies that have a proverbial bite of the environmental health apple, the lack of functional collaboration and cooperation among those agencies, and the disconnect in the language we use to describe environmental health priorities and messages within and outside the profession. Dr. Dyjack describes some of the work NEHA is doing to reassemble the fragmented state of the environmental health profession and emphasizes the need for open discussion to begin this journey.
