HUD Secretary's Award for Healthy Homes

We have partnered with HUD since 2015 in a common vision to create healthier home environments by working across the health, environment, and housing sectors. 

Deadlines

  • Nominations for the 2023 Award will be accepted beginning on January 9, 2023
  • Nomination submissions close at 11:59 pm ET on March 13, 2023
  • The Award will be presented at the NEHA 2023 Annual Educational Conference (AEC) and Exhibition, July 31 - August 3, 2023, in New Orleans, LA.

Eligibility

We encourage applications from a diversity of healthy homes models:
  • Public housing agencies
  • Federally assisted multifamily housing owners and managers
  • Resident organizations (for example, tenant task forces) in public or private assisted housing
  • Coalitions, partnerships, and task groups 
  • State, county, and regional government (including executive branch agencies and legislative bodies)
  • Local health agencies and healthcare providers (including hospitals)
  • Universities and schools of higher education
  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Advocacy organizations
  • Health insurance providers/plans
  • Childcare providers
  • Labor unions
  • Disaster recovery entities
  • Weatherization and inspection services
  • Private philanthropies
  • Affordable housing developers and builders
  • Community-based, faith-based and tribal entities
