The recruitment, development, and retention of skilled professionals is of vital importance to the environmental health profession. Our profession is graying at an alarming rate with a significant number of baby boomers retiring or planning to retire in the next few years. In this column, NEHA’s president discusses the importance of seeking out and hiring talented individuals to develop and sustain a successful and viable environmental health organization, as well as the importance of retaining those individuals.
