This course incorporates interactive and performance based activities to address food safety issues in the event of a disaster.  Food safety response and recovery issues that will be covered include situational assessments, inspectional concerns, salvage, and other mitigation strategies related to food retail and processing facilities impacted by a natural or man-made disaster. The course is targeted towards state, local, tribal and territorial regulators, environmental health specialists, and food safety inspection officers who respond to local disasters. NEHA/FDA National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards Self-Assessment and Verification Audit Workshop

The Standards Self-Assessment and Verification Audit Workshop (Course ID: SAVAW) is designed to provide participants with an overview of the Retail Program Standards criteria and an in-depth understanding of the self-assessment and verification audit processes, worksheets, and forms. Participants should be program managers or those directly responsible for conducting program self-assessments and preparing for verification audits. Intentional Adulteration Conducting Vulnerability Assessments (IAVA) Participant Course

This one day Intentional Adulteration Conducting Vulnerability Assessments (IAVA) Participant Course will provide participants with the knowledge to implement the requirements of conducting a vulnerability assessment under the Mitigation Strategies to Protect Food Against Intentional Adulteration (IA) regulation of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Successful completion of this course is one way to meet the requirements for a "food defense qualified individual" responsible for conducting a vulnerability assessment. NEHA/NOWRA Taking Septic Systems to the Next Level – Sponsored by Infiltrator Water Systems

NEHA has partnered with the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association to offer this one-day training. Over the last 20 years, the challenges and solutions related to septic systems have been on the rise. This course, taught by national academic experts, will discuss key pollutant treatment of nutrients and contaminants of emerging concern, challenging soil and site conditions and related solutions, and management programs for long-term sustainability.

NEHA/SOPHIA A Tool for Environmental Health Planning and Decision Making: Health Impact Assessment Training

NEHA is partnering with the Society of Practitioners of Health Impact Assessment (SOPHIA) to offer this one-day training in health impact assessment (HIA).  The training focuses on the HIA, a tool that can advance your organization’s capacity to address a range of population health issues. The training will also enable participants to increase decision-maker awareness about health effects of housing, transportation, agriculture, and other policies; increase quality of planning efforts; and identify practical mitigation. This training is geared toward public and private sector professionals whose work informs decisions about policies, plans, and projects that can shape the built, natural, and social environments.

NEHA is once again partnering with Climate for Health, a program of ecoAmerica, to offer this training as part of our partnership to build the capacity of environmental health professionals to make a difference in their local climate and health conversation.  The Climate for Health Ambassador Training will equip environmental health professionals with knowledge, hands on experience, and resources to speak and act confidently on climate change and solutions. (​PwCP) will share the results of a thematic analysis of actionable food safety challenges that it undertook using the table notes gathered from the previous three PwCP presentations since its launch in 2018. This analysis reveals issues shared by both industry and regulatory sectors at these meetings that have been grouped around six headings in the following continuum: communication; education; food safety culture and awareness; uniformity and standardization; tools, technology and products; and recalls and traceability. After revealing the continuum, this workshop will take a deeper dive into two of the elements: communication and culture.

Registered Environmental Health Specialist/ Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS)

Review Course: Saturday, July 11–Monday, July 13 from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Saturday and Sunday, and 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Monday
$549 for NEHA members and $649 for nonmembers. REHS/RS Study Guide is included in this review course.
Exam: Tuesday, July 14 8:00 AM
 
Individuals will need to submit an application and all required documents and fees by June 1 in order to be eligible to sit for the exam.This two and a half day refresher course is designed to enhance your preparation for the NEHA REHS/RS credential exam. Participants are expected to have a solid foundation of environmental health knowledge and training equal to the eligibility requirements to sit for the REHS/RS credential exam. This course alone is not enough to pass the REHS/RS credential exam. The class will cover exam content areas as described in the Candidate Information Brochure.

Certified Professional – Food Safety (CP-FS)

Review Course: Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM daily
$449 for NEHA members and $549 for nonmembers. Includes the CP-FS Study Package (CP-FS Manual and CP-FS Flash Cards).
Exam: Monday, July 13 8:00 AM
 
Individuals will need to submit an application and all required documents and fees by June 1 in order to be eligible to sit for the exam.This two-day refresher course is designed to enhance your preparation for the NEHA CP-FS credential exam. Participants are expected to have prior food safety knowledge and training equal to the eligibility requirements to sit for the CP-FS exam. The course will cover exam content areas as described in the Candidate Information Brochure. The instructor will be available during and after the course for questions.
