Frequently Asked Questions 

Is the 2022 AEC in Spokane cancelled and moving Virtual?

No, the AEC is currently scheduled to take place in Spokane, Washington June 28 – July 1, 2022. NEHA is currently planning a virtual component to compliment the in-person conference.  

Am I required to register for the conference? 

YES. All presenters are required to register for the conference. Attendee registration for the 2022 AEC opens December 1, 2021.

Can I get registration fees waived as a presenter?

We expect over 300 presenters who not only present but also attend our other educational sessions. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer discounted registration to so many presenters. We also encourage collaboration and attendance of our other educational sessions so presenters can spread their knowledge and gain value from other presenters.

Will speakers have the option of presenting in-person or virtual? 

At this time, the option to present virtually is only available to those with employer-imposed travel restrictions. Presenters will have the option to submit their current status when abstracts are submitted and presenters will have the option of updating that information closer to the conference. Keep in mind, NEHA will continue to monitor employer-imposed travel restrictions and will organize the in-person and virtual agendas according to these restrictions.

If I already submitted an abstract for the AEC, will I need to resubmit for a virtual session?

No. Abstracts already submitted for the 2022 AEC Call for Abstracts will be considered equally for the hybrid program, there will be no need to re-submit. Speakers will have the option to update their travel status on their abstract submission. 

When will speakers be notified if a abstract was accepted for a presentation?

Speakers have been notified if their abstract has been accepted. If you are not sure if you abstract was approved, please contact us at

When will speakers be notified of the exact date and time of their session?

Speakers will be provided the exact date and time of their session in March. 

When will a draft agenda be available?

A draft agenda listing the breakout educational sessions can be found here. Please note, the agenda is tentative and subject to changes. The agenda will be updated once exact dates and times of sessions have been determined in March. 

I am part of a panel and have not received any information regarding a submitted abstract. Why is that?

All NEHA email correspondence will be directed to the individual who submitted the abstract. It is the responsibility of the submitter to forward any NEHA emails with important information to additional presenters or panelists.
