Dr. Emily Crispell is a food safety microbiologist with Chick-fil-A, Inc. In her current role, she identifies food safety risks and develops solutions to support a strong food safety culture within restaurants. She serves as a microbiology subject matter expert for challenges related to bacterial and viral pathogen survival and transmission.

Dr. Crispell’s professional journey began with supporting foodborne illness outbreak investigations for Georgia Department of Public Health. She holds a bachelor of science in chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a doctorate in microbiology and molecular genetics from Emory University. Her numerous peer-reviewed publications focus on mechanisms by which pathogens cause disease and resistance to antimicrobials. Her work has been recognized at the local and national level through multiple awards and invited talks by the Georgia Environmental Health Association, the American Society of Microbiology, and other professional groups.

Dr, Anna Starobin is a corporate scientist and a leader of microbiology, food safety, and public Health for Ecolab’s global QSR and FRS divisions. Her responsibilities cover food safety, environmental testing,  equipment evaluation, outbreak prevention and recovery, regulatory product development, and research for ECOLAB customers around the world. 

Dr. Starobin is actively involved in industry food safety projects. She is an author of several publications, patents, and multiple white papers. She gives food safety talks covering topics such as cleaning and sanitation, equipment design, hand care, produce washing, environmental testing, and outbreak prevention and recovery in the U.S. and internationally.
