About the Position

The Vermont Department of Health has two exciting opportunities to be on the front lines of protecting public health in Vermont. The successful candidates will conduct a variety of public health inspections of general sanitation practices or environmental health conditions. These positions work closely with regulated facilities to ensure compliance with Vermont’s food and lodging establishment regulations.  The ideal candidates are motivated self-starters who work well independently and as part of a team. The territory for these positions will be in the northwestern part of the state and will have a duty station in Burlington.

Overnight and out-of-state training may be required for certain training opportunities. All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices: customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation.

These positions are being recruited at multiple levels.

It is expected that Inspector II and III candidates will have previous environmental health, food safety, sanitation and food processing training and experience.
