The Marin County Human Resources Department and the Marin County Community Development Agency are announcing a recruitment for the position of Environmental Health Services Project Manager.  

Marin County Community Development Agency: The Marin County Community Development Agency joins together what is commonly known as Planning, Building, and Environmental Health. The mission of the Environmental Health Services Division is to protect public health and well-being of all Marin County residents, workers and visitors by preventing injury and the spread of disease. 

ABOUT THE POSITION
There is one (1) full-time vacancy. The Environmental Health Services Project Manager handles all technical and administrative aspects of environmental health projects, including grant funding and reporting, creating and overseeing budgets, program development, public outreach and community engagement, interagency coordination, monitoring contracts and overseeing contractors. The EHS Project Manager keeps current on state and local laws governing environmental management and best practices in Environmental Health in order to advise management on projects that meet the County’s needs, support master plans and ensure compliance. Current assignments are focused on the management of groundwater and community wastewater treatment systems, and water quality monitoring of ocean, bay and freshwater sites throughout the County.

ABOUT YOU
The Highly Qualified Candidate: The ideal candidate possesses prior experience in all phases of environmental project management, including planning, recommendation, implementation, contract preparation, vendor consultation and final evaluation. Ideally, the project management experience is derived from a water or wastewater program and required budget development and tracking, cost control procedures and preparation of financial reports. Knowledge of and experience with local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations governing grant applications and the use of grant funds is highly desirable as are excellent analytical, interpersonal, presentation, community facilitation and communication skills (both oral and written). 

Possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Environmental Health Specialist with the California Department of Public Health or a Master’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Water Resources, Public Administration or related area is highly desirable.

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and abilities listed in the class specification. Typically, equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in environmental health, environmental studies or a related field and three years of experience providing analytical and/or project management services in areas such as land use and water resources.
