Lead Environmental Health Specialist

About the Position

This position is an exciting opportunity to lead a growing environmental health team at a local health department just 40 minutes away from St. Paul, MN. The Lead EHS provides leadership to the program, which includes work in the areas of human health hazards, food facilities, hotel/motels, recreation, water quality, body art, and pools. This position provides guidance and mentorship to an Environmental Health Specialist and a Programs Associate. The Lead EHS is responsible for reviewing grants and contracts, assigning work to inspectors, communicating program challenges and successes, monitoring budgets, and developing/revising policies and procedures. Along with providing program leadership, the Lead EHS also conducts inspections, investigations, and enforcement of public health law. As a subject matter expert, the Lead EHS also provides technical assistance to a variety of partners, including county agencies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: B.S. degree in environmental health, bacteriology, biology or related science. Registered sanitarian, valid driver’s license and personal transportation required. Preferred Qualifications: Two years of experience in an environmental health setting preferred. Experience with emergency preparedness, foodborne outbreaks and enforcement are preferred.
