About the Position

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health (SPH) Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences (EOHS) announces the search for one or more tenure/tenure-track faculty members at the assistant/associate/full professor level.

The EOHS Division of UIC SPH has a dynamic, multi-disciplinary and impactful portfolio of research and service that reflects our values of community engagement and equity. Programs addressing climate change and environmental health include the CDC-funded BRACE project (Building Resilience Against Climate Effects), ATSDR/EPA-funded Great Lakes Center for Reproductive and Children’s Environmental Health, and the NIEHS-funded CACHET (Chicago Center for Health and Environment). Many opportunities exist for research collaboration with faculty in SPH, the health sciences colleges and across the University in the fields of environmental epidemiology, occupational and environmental medicine, health disparities, and public health policy. As one of the premier research institutions in the US, collaboration can be pursued with faculty in the health sciences colleges, engineering, urban planning, liberal arts, and many others. A joint appointment with appropriate cognate departments or centers is possible.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. (or equivalent) in environmental health, health economics, health policy, a relevant engineering discipline or a related field is required. The candidate must have a robust record of research on the impact of climate change on the public’s health.  We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in climate change mitigation, adaptation, and risk assessment/risk communication. Past evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching is desirable, as is a commitment to addressing environmental and occupational health inequities.
