About the Position

THE JOB: Do you have experience planning, organizing, coordinating and directing one or more environmental health programs? Do you have a passion for environmental health and the safety of the community? If so, read on!

**The current vacancy is within the Hazardous Materials (CUPA) and Site Mitigation Program. 

Some duties include: 

  • Directing a team of hazardous materials inspectors and site mitigation professionals
  • Performing various administrative and technical tasks to assist in the administration and implementation of the Unified Program as well as the Site Mitigation (site cleanup) program.

Desired experience would include: 

  • Direct experience and/or knowledge of both the Regulator and Business portals of the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS), the EnvisionConnect data management system, the Envison Connect Remote field inspection system, and the CERS Integration Wizard data exchange application. 
  • Familiarity with contaminated site data management systems such as Geotracker and EnviroStor.

THE REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and abilities, is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Equivalent to three years of experience as an Environmental Health Specialist; a Master’s Degree in Environmental Health or a related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of experience. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Environmental Health Specialist issued by the California State Department of Health Services. Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver License.
