Environmental Health Specialist Manager II / Assistant Director 

About the Position

Charles County Department of Health is recruiting a Deputy Environmental Health Director.  The incumbent is responsible for day to day operations of EH tasks/projects; interfaces with state and local government; manages personnel; and represents EH director as assigned. This is a high-level managerial position with potential for performance-based bonuses.

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Environmental Sanitarians, under the certificate of eligibility requirements for Environmental Sanitarians.

Experience: Five years of experience performing inspections and investigations in the field of environmental health, in order to ensure compliance, including two years in a supervisory capacity.


  1. Candidates may substitute possession of a Master of Public Health or Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a Commissioned Officer in Environmental Engineering classifications or Environmental Engineering specialty codes in the Engineering and Natural Resources field of work, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience.
