This position is responsible for leadership and management of a strong team of professionals in the Environmental Health Regulation & Licensing Division. This Division is focused on assuring safe and healthy regulated entities through regular inspection, education, and enforcement of environmental health programs including food, hotels, pools, campgrounds, radon, lead, housing, refuse, schools, lodging, body art, manufactured homes. This position reports to the Assistant Director and primary duties include:

  • Providing leadership to division staff to assure high achieving programs related to Regulation & Licensing.
  • Overseeing and supporting enforcement of programs and services as delegated DATCP/DSPS Agents and our local health focused housing inspection program.
  • Planning, administering and evaluating the various services of the Regulation & Licensing Division.
  • Providing leadership in environmental health community collaboration and academic partnership.
  • Assuring communication on key community health and organizational issues.
  • Preparing for and responding to public health emergencies.


Your minimum qualifications must include:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Health, Biology, Chemistry, Public Health or related field. Masters preferred.
  2. Current registration or eligible for reciprocity as an REHS/RS under Wisconsin Administrative Rule.
  3. At least 3 years relevant work experience or a master’s degree and at least two years relevant work experience. Enforcement experience preferred.
  4. Preparation in the principles of supervision is desirable. Successful supervisory experience is preferred.
  5. At least one year of program management experience required. Budget management experience preferred.
  6. Confidence in decision making and adept at conflict resolution.
  7. Experience in community collaborative efforts preferred.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills to represent the division and department with local, state, and federal partners.
