The Department of Geography and the Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences at Bucknell University invite applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Health, Community, and Climate Change to begin August 2023.

The successful candidate will be an interdisciplinary environmental health specialist whose research and teaching focus on the ways social and environmental systems drive differential health outcomes at multiple scales. The candidate will study the relations of community health with global climate change, such as exploring the disproportionate health impacts as a result of environmental racism and racial capitalism. We encourage applicants whose scholarly work focuses on critical, decolonial, and anti-racist approaches to human-environmental phenomena.

The teaching load at Bucknell University is five courses per year. The person hired into this position will be expected to:

  • Teach core requirements in both Geography and Environmental Studies and Sciences on a rotating basis (such as ENST 411: Community Projects and GEOG 204: Spatial Methods and Geographic Information Systems); and

Qualifications

The candidate will have earned a Ph.D. in geography; environmental studies and sciences; epidemiology or public health; or a closely related field by the time of appointment. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate expertise with (1) geographic information systems (GIS) and related spatial and quantitative analyses tools, and (2) community-centered, participatory, feminist, and/or justice-oriented research.
