Identifying Needs for Advancing the Profession and Workforce in Environmental Health
AJPH published a new article, "Identifying Needs for Advancing the Profession and Workforce in Environmental Health." The article aims to identify priority challenges and related research needs to catalyze effective delivery of essential environmental health services for common environmental health program areas in U.S. health departments. The article explores new findings and builds on the innovative Understanding the Needs, Challenges, Opportunities, Vision, and Emerging Roles in Environmental Health (UNCOVER EH) initiative.
UNCOVER EH Survey Results Published inEnvironmental Health Perspectives
The National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Baylor University, are pleased to announce the release of "Environmental Health Practice Challenges and Research Needs for U.S. Health Departments," published in Environmental Health Perspectives, December 2019. The article explores new findings from the Understanding the Needs, Challenges, Opportunities, Vision, and Emerging Roles in Environmental Health (UNCOVER EH) research initiative including the determination of 6 key factors that affect the ability of the environmental health workforce to essential services to the community and provides recommendations that will address these challenges, thus building a stronger environmental health workforce.
UNCOVER EH Survey Results Published in the Journal of Environmental Health
Uncovering Environmental Health: An Initial Assessment of the Profession's Health Department Workforce and Practice," published in the June 2019 is the first of its kind article to present the demographics, characteristics, education and training, practice areas, and aspects of leadership and satisfaction among the environmental health workforce.
