Congressional Hill Day

Hill Day is our opportunity to introduce and enlighten U.S. Congress members, from both the House and Senate, about environmental health in their state, how environmental health impacts their constituents, and ways to improve federal environmental health services to the state and local communities.

We traveled to Washington, DC on March 27 - 28, 2024, to meet with federal legislators.

In the context of national politics, these visits are essential to any association promoting their profession. Congress pays attention to those groups that actively promote their profession and supports funding for federal agencies and activities that provide for their profession. Congress needs to hear and know that these efforts have an impact on their constituents and communities.

Highlights from our trip to the Hill include:

  • 45 attendees from 19 states and DC
  • 83 confirmed meetings with Congressional offices
  • We met with offices from 18 different states:
    • 30 Senate meetings
    • 53 House meetings
    • 47 Democrat offices
    • 36 Republican offices
